ABOUT THE PROJECT

Our client purchased this land with the development partially commenced and with a vision for a high quality addition the Sorrento township.

The key objectives for the redesign of the approved hotel was activation of the street frontages, improved way-finding within the precinct, an improved car parking and access strategy and a long-term financially viable hotel operation. The amendments included an additional 38 hotel rooms, an additional 28 car parking spaces, a new day spa wellness offering, roof-top pool deck, and redesign of various built form elements. A new outdoor dining facility was approved for Ocean Beach Road, allowing for year-round use by patrons and ensuring activation of this important part of Ocean Beach Road.

Contour assisted the client group with the navigation of the planning permit amendment process, including leading a wider project team, engagement with stakeholders and involvement in a VCAT process where settlement was reached with the various parties. As a state-significant heritage property, there were a range of factors that required integration across the heritage and planning approval frameworks.
