YARRAVILLE PLACE

ABOUT THE PROJECT
‘Yarraville Place’ comprises 98 two-three storey townhouses. The original site was occupied by the Melbourne Woollen Mills Factory which dated back to the 1860’s; the redevelopment of the site included the retention and restoration of the historic bluestone walls and a modern interpretation of the saw-tooth roof. The completed development includes heritage interpretation elements, such as an entrance sign and mural.
Contour was the town planning representative for both the development plan approval and the subsequent planning application. Aside from the heritage considerations and those typical to a planning application, the project included considerations to a land-swap agreement, intersection upgrade works, site remediation and rail interface matters.
The project also featured in the Maribyrnong City Council’s Sustainable Living Maribyrnong for its commitment to sustainability, including the installation of solar panels on every townhome.
